Shaving Cream/Gel Alternative

Shaving gels or foams may irritate the skin when shaving.

For a cheap alternative, you may use the same conditioner that you use for your hair.

Or use your trusted mild soap to create foams.

Crayon Stain Fix

My son is learning to use his crayons these days. Despite my constant crayon-is-to-paper warnings, we know it's just not as simple as that with kids. Sometimes, warnings just won't work. *Sigh*

Okay, few days ago I found black crayon lines etched on our walls. Now, who did that? *arms akimbo* (But if I were to jog up my memory, I did the same thing when I was younger)

Anyway, I tried to remove them by carefully rubbing a damp cloth (plain water to cloth) on the site without much success. Then I remembered that crayons are made of paraffin wax (and dye for coloring). So it's really like hardened grease and removing them with oily substance might (I'm applying the concept that "like charges repel" here: see Coloumb's Law) just help. I actually used petroleum jelly, applied it on the wall and gently wiped off the stains. And boy did it work!

Hik-kup!

Hiccups?

Maybe everybody knows that the old trick to "cure" someone with hiccups is to scare him off his wits. This has always been "the way" to do it in my family -and with my friends, too. Maybe because that seems the easiest to do.

But really there's another way. And that is to drink a glass of H2O slowly. Yes, simple as that. And you could also gulp a mouthful of water (without swallowing yet) and then plug your ears with your fingers. Then, swallow the water slowly.

Others suggest to keep a teaspoon of sugar -or make it a candy or easy melt chocolate - in your mouth and suck slowly.

Zit?

Are you bothered my a big red bump on your face? Oh, pimple! And just when you're going out on a special function or a party?

Bummer. I sympathize with you. It really is such a hassle when a zit likened to a volcano is about to erupt just when you have an important event coming - like a date , a company party. But don't worry. This trick might just work for you, like it did with me.

Zit? Cool it. Apply ice on emerging pimples as soon as you can feel it. Wrap ice cube in a towel and hold it in the pimple for 5minutes. Cooling it will decrease some inflammation.

So goodluck and party on.

Get RID of dark circles

Is the lack of sleep causing dark circles under your eyes?

Here's a quick remedy:

1. Pour cold water on a towel. Or get some ice and put it in a towel or hanky.

2. Close your eyes and cover them with the cold towel for 3 minutes or so -depending on how long you can stand the cold.

3. Repeat the process as many times as you deemed necessary.

This procedure helps constrict the blood vessels; thus, reducing the dark shadows underneath your eyes.

The cold also helps minimize swelling of the tissue and eliminate dark shadows.
