Self-Esteem Booster

Feeling down? Or unsure of oneself? Here's a quick self-esteem booster.

Look at yourself in a mirror. Think of three things that you like about yourself, focus on this and tell yourself about these three things. If you think you'd look crazy doing that in the office, you can opt to list these three things and focus on them ONLY. You'll be surprised at how much better you'd feel afterwards.

Okay gotta run now to check insurance quotes online. Have a lovely day!

Exercise to Improve Balance

To improve balance and posture, here's what to do:
Stand straight (shoulders moved back). Then , raise one leg at a time, such that the thigh is parallel to the ground while the lower leg is perpendicular to it. Balance and let it stay in that position for 10-15 minutes. Alternate position witht he other leg. You may do this as long as you want.
Easy peasy huh?

Did You See Her?

I cannot really be too sure but was it last week when I saw Francine Prieto being interviewed on national TV about drastically getting back to her very sexy shape? Indeed she’s miraculously back to her regular sexiness after gaining more pounds which were most evident during an underwear fashion show. I remember years back when she admitted using appetite suppressant and going on extreme diet that caused her to collapse in more than one occasion. She’d admitted learning from that experience so people (me included) wonder now what got her back to her sexy form. Was it some diet pills or did she go through liposuction? On that interview I saw recently, she however revealed that she lost some weight the natural way. She regularly plays tennis and religiously jogs and does workout daw. She also added that she didn’t go through any surgical procedure. Now, isn’t that amazing? Her efforts have paid off. I’m not much of her fan but I admire the work she’s done to get back in shape. If she’s really lost all the flabs the natural way through exercise, then I congratulate her as I believe working out is not the easiest way to slimming.

On a related note, I have heard of a weight loss program that involves no surgery, no dangerous pills, no exercise programs nor expensive packaged-meals. It’s a medically-supervised program that makes use of our weight loss hormone a.k.a the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (or HCG for short) to stimulate metabolism. This hCG diet, which is much safer than surgery procedure i.e. gastric bypass which involves health risks, claims to help people lose as much as 30 pound in 30 days! Now, I wonder if Francine has not heard of this pill *smiles*.

Forgetful As Always

Looking at furnace filters today reminds me that aircon needs some cleaning. I really need to call the aircon maintenance peeps to do preventive maintenace on our aircon unit ASAP. It's been awhile since they last cleaned it up (I actually wanted to have in cleaned in December but the hubster said to resked in January) and I can already imagine the things that lurks in our unit (please dustmites, don't hurt us).
So gotta get hold of my phone NOW. :-)

DLS

Wanting to advance your education further? For working peeps like me, I’m glad that more and more institutions are offering “distance learning” style of instruction i.e. home studies, online programs, etc... I appreciate this study scheme a lot. So now it's possible how we can secure an online business degree for example that without going physically to school.

One of these institutions is the Western Governor’s University in Utah. It is fully accredited university to offer online education on bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, so not only is it convenient for you to attain a higher education, you can also trust that your investment will not go to waste. Apart from that, WGU is also a non-profit institution thus, it is more affordable compared to other online universities.
If interested with their online degrees offered , just visit their site for more info.

Happy Birthday Bro!

Yup, it's brother's birthday today. I have sent a message to him very early this morning. And he said he was still on his way home. That was a wonderful news -going home, that is - since he's away from his family to serve his country and countrymen. I'm really happy that in a few hours (or maybe minutes), he'll be able to see his family (wife and son).
And ain't he a lucky man for today is also his son's birthday. Ya, ya, they both share the same birthday. *grins* Really awesome! So to my nephew, happy birthday too darling. God bless and party on (it's definitely not the time to worry about burning belly fat yet)!

Positive Discipline

After going through the Lipozene forum, I count myself blessed for having landed on a very inspiring and informative blog called the Positive Discipline with Dr. Jane Nelsen. BTW, Dr Nelsen is a parenting expert who has written books on positive discipline.

As our guide, Wiki says positive discipline is a discipline system that focuses on the positive points of behaviour. It is also a way to reduce undesirable behavior, and increase desirable behavior, by rewarding the positive rather than punishing the negative [Source].

Onto Dr Nelsen's site, I have found her posts very helpful. They offer ways/advices for parents on how to positively turn every opportunity to learn to become a good parent as well as teach kids to become their better selves. And because I enjoyed reading her posts, I cannot wait to have a copy of her books - I hope our local bookstores have copies available. *cross fingers*

Virtual Hair Simulators

I mentioned in my previous post about simulating your new hairdo, that there are some virtual hair simulator online that are offered for free. And indeed, I found some thru Google (in this time and age, don't you just love Google? *chuckle*).

So now, I'm sharing few sites I found that may be useful for this purpose. Try these:

Virtual Hairstyle. The first one is much more simpler to use, although one needs to resize photo size to 80KB before upload is successful. And if you just want to modify your bangs, or try to look for the perfect bangs for your face, then this site is fine.

Virtual Hairstyler. This could be helpful to try some new hairstyles but it is much more limited, since one has to upgrade (and that is not free) to get more styles

InStyle Makeover. My favorite among the three. To use this online software, you may upload your own photo or use photos of some of their models. Either way, it's a cool to choose some hairstyles worn by your favorite celebrities. You may also save and share "your creations" to your friends.

Take a break from seriously tweaking on some seo software, have some hair fun now. Take your pick.

The Holiday That Was

Did you know that the past Christmas holiday was kinda different for me. First, and in a very major way, because it was the time when I was too overwhelmed with my pregnancy and all the other emotions that go with it, not to mention getting the "sickness." It was no way to feel like not wanting to eat anything and getting nauseous every minute when all the delectable foods were served in front of you and definitely no way to feel very tired and sleepy all the time (that I didn't have a need for herbal sleeping pills!) when everyone else was shopping and partying. No way! But that was my December 2009 reality. (But I'm glad to be over all that now).

Also, this past Christmas we didn't put up Christmas lights in our home. Yeah, not one can even be found on our Christmas Tree. We've always lighted up our home and our Tree with Christmas lights but not this year. But I'm glad with this decision because, as they say, there's nothing like Christmas lights when increasing the carbon footprint on this Earth. *smiles*

DIY: How to get the perfect bangs

As I've been going through some old notes, I unearthed a note about doing your bangs on your own.
I'm sorry I just couldn't remember where I got this tip - I know this has been saved a long time ago, thus, I couldn't give due credit to the one who originally wrote it.

But anyway, here are some steps on how to get the bangs that you want perfectly, on your own:

Simulate the picture. There are software that can help you do this. Actually, Google can help you some virtual hair simulators. I've searched this after I've looked for best appetite suppressant and I found few sites that offer the hair simulator.

If you've already choosen the right length, get a sharp scissor.

Hold index and middle fingers horizopntally and grasp the ends of your bangs between them. Cut off only a quareter inch, which is about the length of the pointed part of a thumb tack. This gives you allowance to make adjustment and make a clean finish.

Carefully check on the mirror if you've achieved the desired look.

So there. That's that. Happy cutting everyone!

Eyebrows: Not Twin Sisters

When I opened my Facebook today, I had an insight -albeit a funny one- on eyebrow grooming. This was posted by a friend and I couldn't help but agree. Actually, I posted a similar thought on this before.

Anyway the shoutout goes something like this:

Your eyebrows are sisters. Not twin sisters but sisters all the same. This means they don't have to be identical. Everyone has an eyebrow that is much higher than the other one. So don't be obsessed with making them look exactly alike.

Makes sense, right?

Have a lovely day everyone! Off I go to read some colon cleanser reviews now.

Werq, werq...

Wow! I'm waist-deep covered with work. I just found out a couple of minutes ago and I'm really overwhelmed. No, I am not complaining. Infact, I'm so glad for this chance to redeem my budget after bleeding my wallet dry during the holidays. Hooray!

So okay, I'll be back after getting done with my photo editing and doing some online backup.

Travel Buddies

I had been hoping to wrap up the year 2009 with a long drive to the Asia's Longest Zipline. My cousins, my sister and I had planned to try a year-ender fun and adventure and so we decided to try out the new thrill in Bukidnon. But as luck would have it, and for some reasons, I had to back out at the last minute. But no worries though as I know I would get my chance to conquer the zipline one of these days. :-) Really, I can only hope to get on that Zipline thrill this year, not to mention a fun roadtrip going there.

Now, speaking of roadtrips, I have been asked many times about my must-haves when traveling -be it a long trip or not. So without much ado, I'd like to enumerate some of my must-carry must-haves:

1) Food. It can be bars of chocolates, a bag of candies, some bags of chips, packets of biscuits, fruits, or some bread. It can one or all of those. But I'm always leaning on the latter especially it it's a roadtrip when baggages of weight is a non-issue. Bringing something to appease the stomach can always save time for some food stops. And then I do not like to starve when travelling :-)

2) Beverage. During long drives, I actually rarely drink water or juice because I do not like looking for a place to urinate in the middle of nowhere. This is also my issue when traveling by plane because I hate to stand up and walk up the aisle to the CR while the plane is cruising at God-knows-where. But still, I always carry drinks (non-alcoholic, that is) during trips. Besides water can be used to freshen the skin on warm long drives.

3) Apart from bringing in some food to munch during a roadtrip, a must-bring for me is some form of entertainment to keep me occupied during long drives. A game such as Bingo, Crossword etc...perhaps. I know my husband wouldn't think twice of solving Soduko puzzles while traveling. I don't mind solving Soduko too but I'm much more interested in Bingo games and crossword puzzles. My son can also use some form of entertainment offered by an iPod (music everyone?) or the PSP. It could get boring you know. During road trips, these things would surely come in handy during long stretches of silence while everyone is occupied with his own concerns. And then most of the time, when too engrossed with the games, before you know it you're already at the destination. You simply forget the time and distance!

I also bring a paperback although most of the time I rarely read on the road.

4) Mobile Phone. Need I elaborate? *smile*

5) Some toiletries and ample packs of wet tissues. Of course, how can I ever go out of the house without these things?

6) Last but absolutely not the least, my camera and its accessories (extra batteries and memory card, cleaning cloth, charger). The lot is a bit heavy but I just cannot leave them behim. Not when I know that every trip, near or far, will always present an opportunity to capture great photos.

So what about you, what are your travel buddies?
