Staying Fit This Holiday

Studies say that an average person will gain as much as 25 pounds on the course of the Christmas season. Holly, mah golly, TWENTY FIVE POUNDS! *clutching my heart* If that's the case, then I'm gonna put a tape over my mouth right this very minute. *chuckle*

But really, if gaining 25 pound is possible in 30 days then it would be great to learn some ways in controlling our fingers from stuffing our mouth with what have you. Oh btw, this reminds me of something sweet that is not ingested - it's those Swisher Sweets. I didn't know about them until now. But okay off to the tips.

Here are three suggested tips from all around:

1. Eat a light snacks before going to holiday parties. It can be a fruit or few calorie-free cookies just to curb the appetite a little.

2. Exercise. Exercise. Exercise. Apart from burning the calories you've accumulated from holiday parties, it also makes you feel good inside-out. Indeed, physical activities like jogging, aerobics etc... are good stress reliever.

3. Choose your drinks wisely. Some beverages like flavored alcoholic drinks are packed with extra calories. Natural fruit juices and plain water are great thirst quencher. Diet or calorie-free drinks may also be a wise choice.

So there, have fun. Cheers!

Hmmm...

As the year wraps up, I feel so thankful for all the blessing we received in 2009. So many great things happened this year. So many events attended. And so many lessons learned. Thank you Lord for a wonderful year.

I know there's a lot in store for everyone in 2010 and I can't wait to see all that. Hmmm, I wonder if I'd be receiving wedding invitations next year. Ha, I'm so excited.

Keep Looking

...until you find the perfect match.

No, no I'm not looking for a human partner (another? lol). No, not.

I'm just searching for the right boots for me. Yah, boots. The perfect pair. The perfect fit and the perfect kind for non-wintry season. You know, something like those found in the equestrian apparel photos.

I actually found one to my liking during my recent trip to a mall, but I'm not giving in to the temptation. Yet.
I might just find a better pair. So for now, I'll just have to keep on telling myself, hang on, keep looking.

For Dinner, I'll Have Beethoven Please

As I've read more and more about music therapy, I'm quite convinced at its effect in us - i.e stress and pain management.
In some studies, music is said to have effects in our behaviours. Like in children, upbeat music tends to encourage hyperactivity while mellow ones tend to slow down their movements.
Now thinking of that, there could be some truth in what I just read about the relation of music and our eating rate. Researchers are said to have found out that "diners who listen to classical music takes three bites a minute than five bites a minute for rock music."
Now if therre were some truth in that, then I guess I'll have to make sure to eat my meals when no funky music is playing in the background or I'd have to scout for weight loss products at the end of the day. :-)

Energy Efficient Lighting System

Is it time to replace the light fixtures at your home? Before you scurry off to the nearest store and pay for the light of your choice, I wanted to share an article about efficient lighting options. Maybe you've heard about CFLs(Compact Fluorescent Lights), maybe you're already using them, but have you heard about another type of efficient lighting option called the LED (Light Emitting Diode)?

I'm actually a big fan of LEDs and that's not just because I'm an Electronics Engineer but because in my experience, they are low-powered and doesn't emit so much heat. They are also compact and handy.

To know more of the LED system, here's an interesting article for everyone to read.
