Wazzup

I've been catching up with my reading lately - not novels this time but these books are about children's development. Of course I will have my novel doses, too - especially since I found Dan Brown's book The Lost Symbol, one of the Amazon books that will undoubtedly become a bestseller!

I was cleaning up our things one day when I found these books that I have not finished reading yet. I've completely forgotten all about them -and I couldn't believe how much I missed! So now I'm making sure to squeeze a little time in my hectic sked just for reading time.

What about you, what have you been up to lately?

Just In Case

I was reading an article online about a company called the Medtronic Inc., a multinational company that specializes in making medical devices, which has made a defibrillator lead recall due to deaths of five patients - sorry if that first line doesn't sound too encouraging. But it's alarming to know that these leads are health hazards. I'm actually shocked at the possible effect this could cause.

According to the company, their Sprint Fidelis Defibrillator Leads can fracture and may be a contributor to the deaths of these patients. It is said that a fracture in the leads could cause unnecessary shocks to the heart or may not operate at all. So instead of helping the patient by regulating his heartbeat, these defibrillator may cause untimely death. How horrible that is! I wouldn't wish that on anyone - not even my enemies! *shivers* I should hope everything has been recalled already.

Anyway, God forbid but if you know someone who has used defibrillator implant which could have Medtronic Sprint Fidelis leads, let them know of this. It is also important to note that should it be necessary, legal help may be given to them as that there are Medtronic Recall Lawyers who could assist and represent them. Gmail: Protecting Inboxes from Spam

From the Gmailblog, here's a new Labs feature that will help protect your inbox from spam and phishing mails. When I read about it, I immediately enabled this feature as I have experienced receiving plenty of spam email messages which seemed to come from Paypal before.

There was even one spam mail that have cost me my peace of mind, prompting me to email the Paypal peeps. I'm just glad that their response was quick and helpful. With their advice, I have activated another authentication software that automatically verifies Paypal mails but for those who haven't had the chance to have this software installed, I suggest you enable the Gmail feature which essentially does the same thing ASAP. You'll be glad you did -promise!

On another hand, those of you looking for comfortable Dansko clogs, you can order a pair now from this online shop (check preceding link) that offers free shipping on all Dansko orders over $59.98. You may also inquire via their Toll Free number: 800.720.0572.

What Kind Of Sunglasses Are You

Here's one of those online quizzes that I took to pass away time - as if I have lots of that! Lol. But on very hectic days, I like to stop and do something that wouldn't require much analysis. :-)

Your Sunglasses Say You're a Fashionista

You are classy, refined, and well mannered.

Your sense of fashion is based on what looks good on you and what is timeless.

You need to be shaded from rude people and the trials of everyday life.

You feel sunniest when you can retreat to your home or favorite cafe

Packing Tips

Preparing for an imminent trip (I hope to get my butt to at least country this year!), I was checking some packing tips online. I always like to travel light and I have my way of packing my things but what tips I've read today are so helpful for someone not too organized like me. From this post from independenttraveler.com, I am just amazed that there are more than one method to pack the clothes.

Usually, I fold clothes together but I will have to try rolling my clothes next time. Or doing the Bundle Approach - which is space-saving.

Here's also a post I found that gives great practical tips about packing things. One tip I picked from there is to:

8. Split up clothes when travelling with others

When you are flying somewhere and especially if you have a few stopovers, divide the clothes between different suitcases/backpacks/bags etc. If one persons luggage doesn't arrive at the destination, they'll still have clean clothes available. Airlines generally don't compensate lost luggage for the first 24-48 hours so this will save you money if it happens to you.

I actually don't expect losing baggages when traveling and I always keep all my clothes together but what if I lost the baggage holding all my clothes? This tip is so practical, I'm just gonna do this next time I'm travelling.

Lastly, I found thorough packing tips for movers here. If you're moving now or later, cross-country or not, you've gotta read it as I'm sure you'll pick a thing or two or lots of practical ideas from there. BTW, for cross country movers, you can get a free moving quote now. Just click the preceding link or call (888) 680-7200 for your free quote. To see more posts about packing things and goods, check them out here. Aren't you glad for the Internet?

So happy packing everyone and have a stress-free trip!

Gmail: Coming Out of Beta, Getting Back to Beta

The post in the Gmailblog about them leaving in "Beta stage" and launching a "Back to Beta" feature made me chuckle today. I was actually one of the many (I believe) who are guilty of thinking that Gmail should have come out of beta by now! And boy, they did come out of beta!

What a happy thing! What more (for those peeps out there who have gotten so used to the Beta thing), I'm sure you'll be happy too that with this recent development, they've placed a "Back to beta" feature. So that makes everyone happy, ayt? *smile*

Re-using Nursing Bottle Brushes

It's been a long while since I last updated this blog. You bet I'm as busy as that bee up in your mango tree! So crazy busy was I that I haven't even had more than 4 hours of sleep for what seems like ages. *sigh* Buhayyyy. But I'm looking forward to getting a straight 8-hour sleep over the weekends.

Anyway, I was washing shoes one day (wow my life is so unglamorous! *laughs*) when it came to my mind that "hey, I could post what I'm doing now." Really. But okay, come now, I'm not really going to post about my washing the shoes. Instead I'm going to write about something I realized while washing the shoes. But before that, if you need some housewares, drop by this store that offers wholesale housewares. From home appliances to decors, kitchenware to bed & bath accessories, they have them all for you.

Okay, proceed to the realization. I feel funny using such a serious word but anyway, I realized that it's far better to use nursing bottle brushes to wash the insides of the shoes. Far far better and easier really- especially when you get those with rotating heads. I have quite a collection of these brushes (from the 2 years when my son was using nursing bottles). I was going to wash footwear one day and I couldn't find a used toothbrush so I decided to use one of the used nursing bottle brushes instead. And I'm glad I did because I found out that it can clean the insides of a shoe, especially the hard-to-reach areas, much better that toothbrushes.

So there's my tip and trick of the day. For a much cleaner insides of a shoe, the trick is to use nursing bottle brushes! Apart from using them to wash shoes, I also have one (oh well, not the same one I use for the shoes!) to clean condiment or wine bottles. So if you've got old nursing bottle brushes, you can try to re-use them.

Because It's Everyone's Responsibility

...to keep this world drug addict-free, I am going to share a great article I found online that offers tips on how to get a loved one into drug rehabilitation.

Okay, I know, I know I’m not the perfect person to write about this post as I have no first-hand or second-hand experience with drug treatments (I just can’t relate-Thanks God!) but it would be a pity if I will not share it since I found the post helpful and encouraging, not to mention that it’s for a good cause. Because indeed, drug abuse is a very serious matter –and family members or a friend will need all the help he can get to help a loved one break the cycle of addiction.

And with this concern, every second counts. Someone might be desperately needing this advice at this very minute so without wasting precious time, here’s are 4 tips on getting a loved one into drug rehab (according to the post):

Determine if there is a problem.
Talk to them about the issue.
Hold an intervention.
Be there for additional support.

Just click the succeeding emboldened words, if you'd like to get some facts about drugs and their effects on the body and brain, for residential drug rehab option and for more info on substance abuse.
