I was humbled when a friend's wife seek me out for an advice on what to do and things to prepare for her upcoming delivery. Not that I’m an expert but feeling her concerns (which were similar to when I was pregnant), I listened and shared pointers and became a very willing adviser, despite the fact that I only had one delivery to date. *smile* After all that’s been said, one last –but very important- thing that I reminded her of was to not to forget her yoga breathing exercise as it will surely come handy during the big moment.
Very early in the pregnancy, she's also solicited my advice on what activities to take while being pregnant. As I religiously performed yoga exercises for pregnant women during my time and as I have seen how yoga has helped me through my pregnancy (and even up to the delivery!), I encouraged her to try it if she’s up to it. Because to me, yoga was the most practical thing I did while being pregnant -aside from doing walking exercises. Not only did it infuse that positive vibe in me but my routine was so easy and fun to do. The stretching exercises also proved to be very useful and then most of all, the breathing exercise has helped me a lot during my labor. It was also economical as most of the suggested exercises for pregnant women don’t need extra yoga equipment or accessories at all. In fact, with my routine, there’s no need for me to use accessories such as yoga balls or blocks but just the yoga mats. Yes, just the mats. *smile*
Now back to the present time. I was so thrilled to have received the news days ago, that my friend’s wife delivered a healthy baby girl normally. And like me, the wife thinks yoga is invaluable, too.
